Commercial Grind & Seal Concrete Floors in Sydney

Resin Me Epoxy installs grind-and-seal concrete floors for commercial and industrial sites across Sydney. The system exposes the prepared concrete and protects it with a compatible sealer, creating a practical finish for retail, showrooms, offices, workshops, warehouses and refurbishment projects.

The preparation sequence depends on the existing slab, contaminants and desired exposure. Work may include one or more grinding passes, local repairs, edge detailing and thorough vacuuming before the specified penetrating or topical sealer is applied. Aggregate exposure depends on the slab and grinding depth.

Grind and seal is different from mechanically polished concrete: the final appearance and protection come primarily from the sealer rather than a long polishing sequence. Matte, satin or gloss options may be available, but actual colour and aggregate distribution vary across an existing slab. Topical sealers can scratch or wear and may need future recoating.

Commercial grinders are connected to H-Class dust extraction where access and power allow. Drying or cure time, ventilation, moisture, temperature, traffic shutdowns and compatibility with previous treatments are confirmed before installation. Slip resistance must be selected for the intended area and use.

For an accurate quote, provide the floor area, slab condition, desired exposure and sheen, intended use, traffic and chemical exposure, access, available power and programme. Photos and any known coating or contamination history help us define the preparation and sealer system.

How much does grind and seal cost in Sydney?

Grind-and-seal pricing depends on the floor area, the condition exposed after any removal, the required grinding depth and aggregate exposure, edges and repairs, the selected sealer system and the working programme. Access, staged work, ventilation and the time allowed before traffic returns can also change the scope.

Compare quotations for the same system. Check whether removal, preparation, repairs, edge work, the number and type of sealer coats, cleaning and handover are included, and whether prices include GST. We assess your floor and provide a project-specific quotation; a generic online rate is not a confirmed price for your site.

Our published pricing guide lists indicative grind-and-seal allowances of A$55–75/m² for minimal or cream exposure, A$65–85/m² for salt-and-pepper, A$75–100/m² for medium exposure and A$90–130+/m² for full exposure, excluding GST. Preparation, slab condition, repairs and access affect the quotation. The guide also separates large-open-floor packages with different assumptions; compare the relevant scope before budgeting.

Is grind and seal the same as polished concrete?

No. Grind and seal, sometimes described as cut and seal, combines mechanical preparation with a specified sealer. Mechanically polished concrete uses a progressive polishing sequence to develop the finish. The terms are sometimes mixed in online pricing, so ask which system is actually being quoted. Appearance, traffic, maintenance and future recoating requirements should guide the choice.

Can you grind and seal a floor after carpet or tiles are removed?

Often the slab can be assessed for this finish, but glue staining, tile-adhesive residues, cracks and repairs can affect its appearance. The preparation and any test area must establish what is achievable before a decorative result is promised. See carpet glue and tile-adhesive removal, paint removal or epoxy removal for the existing surface.

How soon can the floor be used, and will it need resealing?

Return-to-service and cure times depend on the chosen sealer, site temperature, ventilation and expected traffic. These must be agreed for your actual system. Topical sealers can scratch or wear and may need future recoating; cleaning and maintenance requirements should be part of the handover.

Plan a machinery-suited commercial floor

Open retail, showroom, warehouse and refurbishment floors can suit commercial grinding equipment, subject to slab condition, access and power. Our equipment and capability page shows the fleet we plan around. Our 2,000 m² Sydney CBD preparation project documents large-area grinding and removal, including the preparation method and handover for the incoming fit-out.

Request a grind-and-seal quotation

Send the floor area in m², Sydney suburb, photographs, required start and handover dates, and the appearance you want. Include the current coating or floor covering, likely traffic, access and plans if available.

Request a quote and choose “Grind and seal concrete”, or email your photographs and scope. If you are comparing finishes, request a clearly separated grind-and-seal and mechanically polished concrete scope.
